Baby Steps - May 19-20, 2001
Ann wasn't here this weekend, so Rob raced Blue. Cate came up for her
first Anthro Weekend, and wound up corner working. She did a great job and
even liked it, I think. :)
My bike was running great, although I wasn't too organized, it being my
first race weekend and having had a gig the night before. (Ouch.) Had to
miss Spring Fling for the gig anyway, so it was "race or stay home" on a
really nice weekend. :)
Got to meet Calvin the Wonder Dog. He's a very friendly and social Golden
Retriever, and he seemed to get along well with Cooch, as long as Cooch
didn't feel like he was stealing her friends. (We had a Brief Moment in
the garage, when he was overly friendly with me. ;)
I didn't feel right on the bike in the first practice, and was super
scared that I was going to get hit from behind. New crop of amateurs, all
looking less skillful than the last set. Nightmare material. Kevin gave me
a cool pep talk, and I figured maybe the next practice would work better.
Second practice felt more comfortable. I discovered, though, that the
front suspension doesn't feel like it used to, and I guess that makes
sense since I blew a seal and just had that all fixed last week. I'm
debating now whether I should try to fix it, or just learn to ride it,
since it's not that significant, just different.
