Black Saturday - July 7-8, 2001
It was a stupid, stupid day. So many red flags I cannot believe it. We
had to cancel practices because we just didn't have time. And the
riders... I've never heard so much screaming. Ugh.
It was also the day of the Turn 2 incident. I was working in Turn 3, and I
saw the whole thing. I don't ever want to see anything like that again.
There's more detail on Rob's page, though, so I don't have to talk about
it here.
I had registered for Race 12, MWSM, with Ann, but we missed our races to
go to the hospital with Rob, so there isn't much to report. Also, I don't
remember my practices from before the drive from Laconia to Dartmouth,
which is where I stayed for the rest of the weekend.
Everyone was super cool and packed up Rob & Ann's stuff, then drove it up
to Dartmouth where Rob (and Ann) had gone by helicopter.
It was a really tough weekend, but in the end, I guess it all came out
mostly alright. Mostly.
Everyone's alive, anyway. And for that I am eternally grateful.
